Pavo muticus muticus, also known as the Java Green Peacock is native to Java. Habitat loss has been the greatest threat to this species. The Java Green Peacock is a large bird. Male and female are quite similar, unless the male is sporting his rather impressive tail. It is difficult to find pure Java Greens in this country, as importation has ceased many years ago. We pride ourselves with having some of the finest birds in the country.
