Bird Type: Hoffman's

The Hoffmans Conure (Pyrrhura hoffmanni) is not very well known in US Aviculture. They are small, 9.5 inches long are more stocky then others in the Pyrrhura family. Primarily found in southern Costa Rica, the Hoffmans is predominantly green. The crown and nape of the neck is scalloped in yellow and the ear coverlets are red. Outer primaries blue with the top side of the tail dark green and the underside a dark red. Iris are dark brown and the beak is horn colored. Juveniles are similarly colored to the adults except coloring is less defined.
