Painted Conures (Pyrrhura picta picta) are one of the more uncommon of the Purrhura Conure species. In the wild, they are relatively widely distributed in areas of Venezuela, Brazil, Guyana and Surinam. Physical description: Body plumage mostly green, forehead and crown are blue, ear coverlets off white, chest and neck feathers are dark colored with white tips, giving a scalloped appearance. The center of the abdomen, back and tail coverlets are a dark reddish brown and the primary flight feathers are blue and the beak is black. Males and females are of identical colors and juveniles are similar to adults except the colors are muted. They are approximately 8.5 inches in length with a 4.5 to 5 inch wingspan.
